800 x 1200mm I was so inspired by a recent trip to Dar-es-salaam and to Zanzibar. The sights and sounds, the colours and the culture – such a joy to be exposed to all of this.

Thanks to Gabrielle Boiselle for her permission to use her photograph as inspiration. The Bedouins of North Africa pay tribute to the beauty of their horses by adorning them with jewellery.

BANANA LEAVES

1m x 1m. Mixed media on canvas. Another beautiful hand of bananas has just come off this tree and now it just has to stand up to the lashing rain and wind in Cape Town for a bit longer! I’m always so surprised that it seems happy here.

I love painting women – although this is a gentle palette, there is an understanding that women have a strength and a will that has no bounds. There is a sense of “don’t underestimate me”.
